Dusssera  the celebration of the victory of good over evil .
Dussehra celebrates the victory of Lord Rama over King Ravana.
On the battlefield rama and Ravana attacked each other with many different types of arrows...and..Vibhishana told Rama that Ravana's weakest point was in his navel. Rama with his powerful arrow shot Ravana in the navel, then Ram used Brahmastra and killed him. Vibhishana told Rama that Ravana's weakest point was in his navel.
It is believed that Ravana's wife Mandodari was born in Mandsaur, Madhya Pradesh. Hence, people in Mandsaur worship Ravana as he is considered as the son-in-law of Mandsaur. Therefore, the locals here pay tribute to Ravana by turning off the lights of their homes on the day of Dussehra.
